Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
What is KAP?
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) combines the unique properties of ketamine with the safety and guidance of psychotherapy. In a therapeutic setting, ketamine can open doors to self-discovery, release, and transformation that may not always be accessible through talk therapy alone.
Many clients describe KAP sessions as expansive, creative, and deeply healing. With the support of Michele, you can journey inward, reconnect with your true self, and make space for profound emotional and psychological shifts.
Why KAP?
KAP can be especially supportive if you are experiencing:
- Depression or treatment-resistant depression
- Anxiety or persistent fear
- Trauma or PTSD
- Existential distress (including end-of-life concerns)
- Feeling “stuck” despite therapy or self-work
Ketamine often works by softening defenses, quieting inner critics, and creating a safe distance from painful patterns. This allows you to approach your inner experience with more compassion, openness, and curiosity.
What to Expect
A KAP journey typically includes three phases:
- Preparation — We meet to clarify your intentions, answer questions, and create a safe, supportive container for your session. During the Prep phase, you will meet with a prescriber, such as a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner, to get your prescription.
- Dosing Session — You will take ketamine in a comfortable setting, with therapeutic support and guidance throughout. The experience may involve vivid imagery, emotional release, new insights, or a sense of expanded perspective.
- Integration — In the days and weeks following, we work together to explore what arose and how it can be woven into your daily life.
The Role of Integration
Integration is where lasting transformation happens. It is the process of making sense of your experience and translating insights into meaningful, everyday change.
Because this is so essential, I offer ongoing integration sessions to support you after your KAP journey.
Safety and Support
KAP is not for everyone, and careful screening is part of the process. Together, we will determine if KAP is appropriate for you, and if so, tailor the process to your unique needs.
Your sessions are always conducted in a safe, professional, and supportive therapeutic environment.
